The Six P’s of Success

I learned the 6 R’s of success from my mother. When I was 12 years old, my mother founded a non-profit youth entrepreneurship organization called Today’s Entrepreneurs. His main goal was to keep me and my friends away from the streets and gangs.

For 12 years, she led a nationally recognized organization that received awards from the City and County of Los Angeles, the State of California, and from Presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton. He had a non-negative profit for the United States for the year. There were thousands of children who were impacted through his program.

The foundation of his non-profit was the 5 P’s of success (I added one more P). The P’s are:

  1. Love (I added a P to this)
  2. Prayer
  3. Patience
  4. Stability
  5. Patience
  6. Productivity

I have been making money as an entrepreneur since I was 9 years old. From watering the lawn to owning my own auto company. I have done catering, network marketing and real estate. I learned that passion is the key ingredient. Feeling makes the sixth P. Some of these businesses paid for my prom, college, professional license, and exotic vacations. Work 6 P.

Here are the 6 P’s of success.

1. Respect: a strong or excessive love, interest, or desire for something

In my 20s I was all about the money. I went to school, got scholarships, invested in real estate, commercial goods, and worked at UPS. I knew I wanted to be an entrepreneur, but I was looking for quick money. I made money fast and lost it even faster.

I wanted a shortcut. I saved money for real estate projects that never materialized. I worked at a job I hated and started companies in businesses I didn’t want to work at. It took years to find a passion for writing and speaking.

When I worked for an event staffing agency at USC and UCLA football games, I noticed the passion of these young players. Their coaches, parents and fans were enthusiastic. For players and students, it was a short-lived event in their lives. These players and students graduate and move on. But for that moment they had passion.

Love is your business. I see so many people start a business because they went to a seminar, a friend asked them to, or they stayed late and therefore informative. I have made the same mistake many times. Don’t follow the money, follow your passion.

How passionate are you about your work? How excited are you about your loans and living paycheck to paycheck? Do you feel the same way about the business you are in? Are you working in a position that matches your skills, talents, and abilities? It wasn’t until I was 35 years old before I started living my passion.

Passion is the fuel that keeps you going when sales slow down, when you lose contracts, when an affiliate shuts down, and the city doesn’t approve of your plans. Passion drives you to take your dreams and turn them into reality.

Before anyone joins my team, I ask them what their passions are. I want to know if they are interested in internet marketing. If they don’t, I don’t need them on my team. Our passions have to be aligned because when the going gets tough, I want them to see it through.

If you are not working on your passion, don’t worry. Find out what motivates you and jump into it asap! I missed out on enjoying myself for years because I limited myself to making money and didn’t work on my passion. Find your passion.

Choose a business and make sure you work on your skills, talents and abilities. I never thought I could make money writing and speaking. There are many people who achieve success and wonder, “Is that all there is?” Don’t be that person.

2. Prayer: a devotee’s request to God or an object of worship.

The definition says that a religious request. A crazy guide will guide you to success. George Washington Carver prayed for a little peanut every day. Numerous products were born from his inventions from those peanuts. Because of his devotion to prayer, he created new fields from his discoveries.

This is not a debate about which religion is right. I believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is my savior and I will leave it at that. Develop a relationship and spend quality time with your creator. Prayer saved me from mistakes. Prayer has guided me and is a key component of the 6 P’s.

Prayer can lead you to breakthroughs in your business. This is where your imagination and ah-ha moments come from. Time of peace and quiet brings light. Why not spend it with a higher power. You do not like the word “Prayer”. Then find some time to meditate. Call it whatever you want.

3. Patience: the quality of patience, as bearing provocation, annoyance, misfortune, or pain, without complaint, loss of anger, rage, and the like.

“God, I need patience and I want it now!” I fought patiently. I want everything to happen now and quickly. In our society of instant gratification, text messages, 24-hour news channels, and get-rich-quick schemes, people expect success NOW. You bomb about losing weight in 5 days, make $10k this week and get it now without paying until next year.

My mother preached TTTT. These things take time. The law of sowing and reaping always applies. It takes time to test marketing campaigns, close savings, and build a customer list. It takes patience to build relationships. Are your 90-day goals extended to six months?

Passion and prayer will strengthen your patience. Patience does not mean being passive. When money is tight, it takes energy to keep up with marketing. Patience will help you learn trends so you can take advantage of them. Patience is listening to mentors and people who stand in your way.

Developing a long-term perspective is the key to patience. Delay instant gratification and keep your end result in mind. If doctors spend years in school, you can master your trade.

4. Resistance: the duration of the effect after the removal of the cause.

This is a terrible word that people hate. Perseverance is the active part of patience. I remember my mother standing firm in her organization. Funding, sponsors, events and transportation of children from local schools to showcase businesses.

Persistence was the key to getting my real estate license, writing over 100 published articles, and publishing 600 blogs. Sustainability is planting the seed and tilling the ground to reap the harvest. Passion is about sales, constant marketing and communicating your vision for your company.

Here’s a lesson in persistence:

· Mark Victor Hanson’s book was rejected 300 times before he and his partner went on to sell 500 million books.

· Before becoming the 13th president of the United States, Abraham Lincoln faced losing elections, the death of his sweetheart, and failed businesses.

· John Elway missed 3 Super Bowls before he retired.

Persistence will serve you well. It is your best friend in life when you use it intentionally to succeed. Do you tell your child to stop trying to walk after a fall? Look back at your past and see where persistence helped you overcome obstacles. How did it feel? See also where you should stand. Sometimes all it takes is one more try.

5. Patience: persistent persistence in an action, goal, situation, etc., especially in the face of difficulties, obstacles, or discouragements.

To persevere you must be patient. I remembered the failures I mentioned above. Those people were patient. John Elway had the worst three losses as a quarterback for a Super Bowl team. He was defeated by the New York Giants in Super Bowl XXI.

He played with Doug Williams in Super Bowl XXII, where Doug Williams broke Super Bowl records and the Washington Redskins posted the largest margin of victory in Super Bowl history. He dominated again in Super Bowl XXIV, where he once again surpassed Joe Montana’s record-breaking performance.

Three humiliating losses. Did John Elway resign? No! He continued to play and 8 years later he won his first Super Bowl and the next year his team won again. This is a great example of perseverance.

Roadblocks stand in the way of achievement. Failures are a part of life and a part of the process in your business. Logically, failures make sense, but emotionally, we don’t think they’ll happen.

Natural disasters happen. Losing your biggest customer, your bottom line is leaving you, escrow didn’t close, no one showed up to your meeting, or your presentation was terrible. It happens. The question is, how do you respond? How quickly will you get back on your feet? Are you moving forward? This is what persistence is all about.

Remember the moments you endured. It could be a project that took years to complete or your last rep of your workout. You have victories and these victories boost your confidence.

6. Productivity: the quality, state, or fact of being able to produce, create, improve, or produce goods and services.

Are you productive? Plain and simple you have to produce to be successful. You don’t make money until you sell something. Your focal point is productivity and sales are your priority. The bottom line is that you will generate traffic that will generate leads and those leads will turn into sales.

Bring productivity to your sales and downline teams. Training is not effective. Spend 70% of your time on profitable activities and your business will grow. Put systems in place to help you be more efficient.

Even a one-man empire needs systems. You, as a rainmaker, should practice Execute it, delegate it, postpone it or delete it. You can outsource, hire your kids, or use technology to make you more efficient.

These are the 6Rs of success that I learned from my mother and put into practice today. He still uses them in his business at the age of 74. Apply and teach them to your family, friends and team.
