My Top 12 NFL Quarterbacks Of All Time – Old And New!

A number of quarterbacks have played over the years. I’m sure you think there are others or someone else who is on this list. While that’s true, these are MY dandies and I stand by them! 🙂

I start at #12 and work my way up to #1. You might think you already know my top 12, but I’m sure you’ll be a little surprised. These are also no needles in the selection of weeds. Each of them is included in the list.

I think before I start the list, I’ll give you my badges of honor. These are a hand full of quarterbacks that just landed on the edge of my list. First on this list is Kurt Warner, the arena player turned NFL star. Next up is the star quarterback who won five championships in the 1960s, that guy’s name is Bart Starr of the Packers.

Then there’s Warren Moon, who passed for nearly 50,000 yards and was the first African-American quarterback elected to the Hall of Fame. The Chargers had Dan Fouts, who started an Air Corel streak that matched a streak never seen before. Last but not least is a Bears quarterback named Sid Luckman. He still holds most of the Bears passing records and retired in 1950.

Now #12 on my list is Steve Young. The 3-time Super Bowl champion went in for J.Montana (who finished his career in KC) and the 49er never gave up a shot. They just kept winning.

My #11 is the golden boy of the Super Bowl winning Dallas Cowboys in 1990. Yep, you guessed it, folks. This is Troy Aikman. I think those Super Bowls were more of a team achievement, but Aikman certainly did his part in the process of success.

I think my #10 was probably the worst quality frame of its time. I think it was mostly because of his size, believe it or not. He was a scrambler who was not taken seriously as a quarterback. This gentleman’s name was Fran Tarkenton. He wasn’t taken seriously, but his 47,000 yards in his time made him 3rd all-time. (a few have passed since then) His appearance in the Super Bowl was bogged down by losing all 3, but it wasn’t all his fault.

My #9 was a guy who played for the Steelers in the 1970s. In that decade, the Steelers won 4 Super Bowls and could have won 5 without bad luck. His name is Terry Bradshaw.

At #8 is 2-time Super Bowl winner John Elway of the Denver Broncos. He was a prime example of a winner. He won 2 Super Bowls in the last two years.

Now #7 was T.Bradshaw of the 80’s. 49er quarterback Joe Montana won 4 Super Bowls. I think most people know Joe.

The #6 player is the person who currently holds all of the past NFL records. In 20 years, Brett Favre has accomplished more than he ever imagined. In more ways than one.

The move to #5 Johnny Unitas is huge. Many people think he was the best of all time. His stats from the 60’s can hold up in today’s past game. 47 consecutive games with a touchdown pass to date.

Now #4 is the undisputed best quarterback to ever win a Super Bowl. The name of the 9th innings bowler is Dan Marino. He holds all of Miami’s passing records that will never be broken.

My #3 is no surprise, I’m sure. This is 3 Super Bowl winner Tom Brady. During the last ten years, the patriots have been riding on the arms of a wonderful boy. I don’t blame them one bit.

Pick #2 when he retires, I will be #1 because he holds all of B. Favre’s past records and then some. He is in the squad of the Colts Super Bowl winner, Peyton Manning. He gives the game more than anyone in the history of the game and it shows.

Now my #1, which may come as a surprise to some, but not me. He was a big Brown star before Jim Brown came on the scene. His name is the legendary Otto Graham. In his first 10 years playing for the Browns, they won 7 championships. His winning percentage record for a starting quarterback still stands at .810.

He was 57-13-1 as a starting quarterback. He also played DB for the Browns. His career record while playing for the Browns was an impressive 105-17-4. Yes, those were a long time ago, but success in football is still measured by wins today as it was then. There was no greater winner in football than Otto Graham!

I hope you enjoyed this interesting and informative article as much as I did.
