The Sports Betting Cancer
I’m sure you’ve all seen the ads for handicappers claiming to have insider information and a “5 Star Lock of the Year.” You can find many advertisements for these services on the sports page of any newspaper and also on the internet.
These services appeal to the gullible masses and the search for easy profit. Usually, these “experts” boast incredible and incredible winning percentages of something like 80 percent. These dishonest comments are the calling card of a scammer.
Scamdicappers are a cancer among the sports betting public. They are not in the business of serving their customers by picking fat on their wallets. It’s really a simple scam, and since the customer base is essentially infinite, it can fatten their wallets forever.
There will always be hundreds of gullible gamblers. Some may have dug themselves into a big hole, while others have dollar signs in their eyes. Desperate or greedy gamblers call one of these professional players for free picks and big payouts. By the time the phone is hung up, the gambler has paid for a “guaranteed to win” selection package.
These cheaters don’t even play their picks. Like I said it’s all a scam and they make money by selling worthless tickets as a service.
The scam is simple. All the scammer has to do is instruct any unsuspecting caller to bet on the other team. This is all done by callers who happen to win calling again and buying a more expensive package.
Four people call the same “handicap service” on a day when the service offers picks at the Patriots/Dolphins and 49’ers/Seahawks games. After receiving all relevant caller information (name, credit card information, phone number, etc.), the service tells caller 1 that today’s picks are the Patriots and 49’ers. Caller 2 is told that the Dolphins and Seahawks are the teams to bet on. The service directs Caller 3 to bet on the Patriots and Seahawks, while Caller 4 the Dolphins and 49ers are playing today.
As you can see, one of the callers goes 2-0. That caller is likely to be included in an expensive package. Two more calls go 1-1 and only have to worry about paying the juice. These two callers can be sure to give the service another chance. To sweeten the deal and lure them back into the lottery for their lucky pick and subsequent pick pack, they are also promised another free pick.
The last caller loses both bets and potentially a good deal of money to a bookie or online bookie.
If you get hundreds or more of these callers a week, you can understand how profitable this scam is. If you were the caller who received the winning picks, the odds of getting the winning picks are definitely not in your favor. In the end, you’ll lose all the money you won with the lucky pick and usually end up in a bigger hole than before you made the fateful call. By realizing that you have been cheated, it becomes an easy decision to stop using this service.
If you have experience with scamdicapper, you know that the service calls every week. These follow-up calls offer free options for a second or third chance. If the caller endures the harassing calls and buys the package, they are placed back in the batting order for the lottery pick that actually wins. Even if you tell the service that you are no longer interested or ignore them, they will call you every week or day and offer a new package.
This is where the chase continues. Scammers are relentless and will not take NO for an answer. If you call them, they will chase you and leave messages suggesting the Sun and the Moon. It seems that these calls tend to increase quickly. A month later, you get calls from people you’ve never heard of or even called. Adding insult to injury is the sad truth that these professionals often sell their lists to their colleagues. By next season, you’ll have three or four of these guys calling you. The only way to turn off the phone is to get a new number.
I know about this tactic. Years ago, before I learned about sports investing and left college with little money in my pocket, I became a statistic when I bought some options. Luckily I just bought a one-week pack and I quickly saw the light. A few months later, I moved and neglected to leave a forwarding phone number. I will never call another sports services number again.
However, there are legitimate disability services that offer services to their clients. These services only offer options that their staff and themselves have thoroughly researched and play about themselves.
If you decide to use a disability service, be sure to check and do your due diligence and/or research the service. Make sure you answer all the questions you want. Any quality disability service will have contact information and will be able to answer any questions you may have.
